keep still.

19 August 2011

Day in and day out, we are ever so busy, getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of our everyday things.

At this moment, I choose to keep still and appreciate the simple things.

:: I appreciate that the weather has been less erratic lately. More pool time for the toddler. Yay!

:: I appreciate technology. Even though the rest of my family is scattered all over the globe, we still get to  see  and talk to each other virtually!

:: I appreciate that my toddler is now showing signs of potty readiness. She now asks for the potty on waking up and after bathing.

:: I appreciate my husband for letting me sleep in on weekends.

:: I appreciate Barney. The purple dinosaur is the toddler's current fave.

::I appreciate that my toddler's stroller footrest has finally been replaced. For free.

::I appreciate my Voice Boks friends for their continuing support. You are awesome.

::I appreciate Natalie for the heads up on this linky and  Jesslyn for hosting this. And Bruna for Let's Bee Friends :)

What about you? What are the simple things that you are grateful for?

rundown: 21 months.

11 August 2011

Three months shy of your 2nd birthday. Oh how time flies. It's amazing to see how grown you've become. I see you gain more and more confidence as you take on new tasks each day. I won't be surprised if one day I will no longer see traces of the bashful little girl who clings and hides behind mummy. You love to play pretend. Cooking is your main thing now. You'll take me by the hand and ask me to sit nearby while you get busy in your  play kitchen - washing and cooking your veggies and soup blocks. Yes, these same wooden blocks. You'd go around letting me, Ate, and your dolls taste your invisible concoction. You get a kick out of doing this.
Dolly Rose and Elmo are your favorite pretend classmates. You love to show them your doodles and baubles. You love to read them books and teach them songs you learned in play school. You also don't mind sharing your snacks with them. You like to copy everything that we do. From household chores to reading books to anything that we say and everything in between. You are my police. You make me doubly cautious of whatever comes out of my mouth.
Meanwhile, Yumi and Doggie are your bedtime buddies. Plus Binky and Chewy of course. Yes, we have names for all of your thingies. :)

The other day, your Tita called because cousin Iza said she wanted to hear you speak. You grabbed the handset from me; said, "Hello" and listened attentively to whatever Ate Iza was saying on the other end. Your Tita and I ended up talking via handphone.

Your vocabulary never ceases to surprise us. We used to count the words that you can say but you keep adding new words so quickly! We stopped counting at 150. You know your numbers and alphabets albeit sometimes with no chronology. You know the names of all your playmates and even that of their nannies.

The grannies are happy that you know their names already. What's Lola's name? Nona Norms. AND? Nona Baby. How about Lolo? Nono Boy. AND? Nono Manny. Yipee! It goes without saying that you know your name and age and our names too! :)

You love making faces. This is you in your "tickle me, surprised, fishy and happy face!" You also have the angry, sad, bored and scared faces. You like singing silly songs and rhymes.

"Sweetly sings the donkey at the break of  day. If you do not feed him, this is what he'll say: hee haw, hee haw, hee haw. And you scramble on to mummy's back. Hee Haw. Hee Haw. And stop. "

You seem to know how to empathize.

The other day, we let you watch snippets of Strawberry Shortcake on the telly. You bawled your eyes out when Mr. Longface Caterpillar fell from a cliff! Daddy and I were stifling our laughters while we were trying to comfort you!

We always take photos for daddy, while he's at work. You don't mind posing at all. Sometimes you even want to change footwear in between poses. See!

I would love for you to stay this way, little one. But that's not how it should be. You are meant to grow, to explore, to blossom, to be who you are meant to be. Though bittersweet,  I will be content with remembering how you are as this little toddler girl.
